Short documentary film, infographic design, and video storytelling developed through Media and Journalism 121.
For this short documentary, I interviewed, filmed, and edited the story of Alea Marks, a guide dog trainer whose work became a source of stability during a period of depression. What began as a love for dogs grew into something much deeper — as raising guide dogs gave her structure, purpose, and connection during a time she felt isolated.
As each dog she bonds with eventually leaves to guide and protect someone else, the film explores the tension between healing and letting go.
This infographic breaks down the life of a guide dog, from being a puppy to becoming a working companion. I wanted to make it clear and easy to follow, so I focused on making the design more visual and less text-heavy. I added key data points to give context, used bold typography to highlight important information, and made sure to include the sources.
This video is a short piece about travel and nostalgia, made using vintage black and white footage. I was really drawn to how timeless the clips felt, and wanted to rework them into something that felt more personal and emotional. I paired it with Beyond the Sea to create a kind of dreamy, flowing journey.
It is not meant to follow a strict story, but more to feel like a memory or a moment you are looking back on. I focused on pacing and transitions to make everything feel soft and continuous. Overall, I wanted it to feel simple, a little romantic, and reflective of that feeling of wanting to go somewhere new.
